How does internet travel

Welcome to yet another blog on be simply smart.

As you always know we decipher complicated and subtle things into much more easier and understandable language.
We would make you sound smarter among you're peers. We cover those topics which are a must go to topics for a casual discussion which are indeed profound

So our today's topic is as you guessed by reading our title how does Internet travels

The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer devices that uses the Internet protocol  to communicate between networks and devices.
The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services.
Intiallty internet was used as a helping component for military agency's in U.S which in no time became so common and popular that in current scenario internet is available everywhere.
Enough with the bookish knowledge let's know how does internet travel.

So basically most of the global internet demands are met by the cables layed meticulously under the sea or ocean bed. These cable (mostly optical) are made of copper whose thickness is similar to that of a strand of a hair (on our head and not else were). The internet travels at the speed of light through these cables.

[Trivia: the fastest download and upload speed in the world is in NASA ]

A very miniscule amount of internet is transmitted through satellite which most common perception thinks that internet=satellite. This technique is used where laying cables is not possible due to economic or geographical reasons.

These cables are so long that if aligned properly from top to end it would cover the earth almost around 30 times which is ridiculously huge.

Let's take an example suppose a company is given the contract to lay down cables from California to Mumbai through sea. At end when these cables reach at the shore of Mumbai it's the responsibility of the local government to lay more cables interconnected across the cities. Internet speed in the country is directly proportional to the number of cables and the quality of internet transmission infrastructure in the country.

These cables which carry internet straight from California are then connected through regional service providers like Jio, Airtel, Idea, Hathway etc. Thus next whenever your internet connection gets slow it's not the internet actually which gets slow but some problem in the internet service provider (ISP) has caused.

Only few companies have taken up the responsibility to lay down cables which is highly expensive. In india till now company is in this list ,but Reliance communications are exploring the possibility.

These cables are prone to damage thus are covered which a thick protective cover. Sharks find these lines compelling so they tend to attack frequently. The reason is not clear but it is anticipated that the radio active currents from the cables attract them.

TRIVIA:

Google owns major shares of 63,605 miles of submarine cables.

Google will be the sole owner of 10,433 miles of submarine cables when the Curie cable is completed in 2019.

Google holds ownership of 9.9% of submarine cables worldwide.

Content providers like Facebook and Amazon are increasingly building private cables to support their cloud services.

OTHER CABLE OWNING COMPANIES

Facebook approximately owns a cable length of 91859 km.
Amazon approximately owns a cable length of 30557 km.
Microsoft approximately owns a cable length of  6506 km.

Thus we conclude with our profundity on the topic. Please give us any feedback and improvements you want us to implement into the blog untill then
