President as most of us think is appointed only to sit and sign on some stupid documents is paid a whopping stipend of Rs 5 lakh a month plus other requisites which includes a Rashtrapti Bhavan, a limo and various other stuff which we common man can only dream off.

The president is indirectly elected by an electoral comprising the Parliament of India  (both houses) and the Legislative assembly of each of India's state and territories, who themselves are all directly elected through elections.
